Today, I’ll be talking on an area that has been influencing our lives for centuries. Technologies including social networks are once again changing industries, business models and lifestyles. How? What if I did say that social networks are not just used for communicating with people? Also, what would anyone have to say for the potential of the apps world, cloud computing, search, 3D printing, gestural technologies and so on?
But first, let me start off with 2 videos and an article that shows how technology has been influencing our lives right since the Paleolithic Stone Age Period.

Also, coopetitive and innovative approach took over from just the customer-centric approach 20 to 30 years ago. IBM, P&G were just 2 of the early adopters of the coopetitive and innovative approach that has now been furthered by Amazon, Apple, Samsung, FB and so on. In addition, there are also the low-cost innovations or blue ocean strategies that are coming out from countries like China, India, Brazil and so on. The globality video below shows such strategies and innovations. Globality or glocalisation or semi-globalisation is the stage after globalisation where anyone and everyone compete with each other from anywhere and everywhere.

c) Self service revolution that is part of our lives today – ATMs, self-checkout, point-of-sale, kiosks, etc as seen under the first article while the second article with the document shows its evolution in the last 200 years including via mobile phones. It even exists with all the apps used these days and 1 of the industries used here is the transportation sector where the last four articles deals with the self service revolution related to that sector. The third article shows how some European countries have been using mobiles for transportation payment for more than 10 years while the fourth article shows how open transit payment system existed in Germany since 1990s. The fifth and last articles deal with how mobile apps are changing public transportation as well as having wifi within the public transportation. Thus, these and other technological and innovative services exist in different ways within all industries.

Taking the case of the legal industry, 4 of the trends reshaping the legal industry are globalization, virtual law firms, alternative legal service providers and legal process outsourcing. Due to the growth of the Internet, there is not only automation of legal processes, developments in data security and emerging technology tools but also powerful smart phones and tablets, software-as-a-service applications and secure web-based technologies including social media and VOIP (like Skype within FB or as a stand-alone, Google Hangout under Google products or as a stand-alone, Viber) are allowing legal professionals to work from virtually anywhere. Due to this, more legal professionals are working remotely from home or from a virtual law office and the legal marketplace is changing where there is a growing number of non-lawyer
professionals such as legal self-help sites, virtual assistants and offshore legal vendors. Also, the legal industry has experienced a global shift towards the legal process outsourcing delivery model for legal services. Additionally, virtual offices are bringing down the total monthly costs of serviced offices by a huge amount. This is the same case for administration and some of the other professions. -

In addition to above, there are real-time integrated solutions now for apps and social media including for search. Cue/Greplin and Kitedesk even though they say they organise content for scheduling event purposes according to specific times within specific dates, they can do more. They can search messages, posts and even updates of pages that the individual has chosen within a social network like fb and the search is done for that particular individual (the search apps do not show the public of individual’s stuff). Cue/Greplin and Kitedesk does search for GMail, Google Calendar, Salesforce, FB, LinkedIn, Twitter and so on. There are also other third party real-time integrated search apps but not as good as Cue/Greplin and Kitedesk. Kitedesk goes one step further where can share and store files under the app which is more than what Cue does though Cue does the search for more applications than Kitedesk. Kurrently is the public real-time integrated search app that does it for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN and others. More on Cue, Kitedesk and Kurrently can be found under http://storify.com/rohitthomas/history-on-privacy-and-is-it-safe-to-have-personal.
Facebook can be used as an information or knowledge and communications centre as Facebook has its own blogging area called FB Notes; pages as well as Skype, Spotify (music app), Soundcloud (music app) and other apps including Docs app (MS Docs’ reply to Google Docs – cloud computing). Google Hangout, part of Google , is more than what Skype is currently though Skype is modifying as Google Hangout can not only do face-to-face communications with different people around the world but can also share files, watch videos including movies together as well as watch any site together or even fool around with the animated effects as a family. Twitter provides real-time news though it has flaws as social media and networks are still in their early stages (search engines also had flaws during their early stages). Facebook isn’t good at search and its blogging area still needs to be developed as good blogging platforms are under Google or WordPress but Facebook has so many apps as well as pages under it in comparison to Google. Twitter has pages yet it uses third party blogging platforms or sites for links and articles. So, social’s still developing and is also integrating with search and other apps. Google searches are done according to its algorithm while Cue/Greplin and Kitedesk are the right tools for searching not only within FB but also within other apps as mentioned above where under FB, Twitter, etc can choose the pages that the individual loves and not depend on Google’s algorithm (because each individual’s taste including for search differs).
If use right settings and apps including lists which any firm or social network has provided, that organisation’s potential can be used efficiently; pages, contacts and apps won’t get so cluttered and also posts/ads/comments can be done for free (mostly).
Furthermore, search, social and other technologies are headed for content marketing, anticipatory computing and so on and the potential of 3-d printing is very great including with the online world.
